Gerald Clayton Libengood, 95, of Blairsville, PA (Strangford) went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
The son of Homer L. and Sara E. (Repine) Libengood, he was born March 28, 1923 in Strangford.
Mr. Libengood attended Cornerstone Worship Center, Indiana. Through his example, he taught his family to love God and each other.
He always enjoyed working in the woods and was self-employed as the owner of a sawmill for 45 years.
Mr. Libengood was a veteran of the Army, having served in World War II.
Surviving are two sons, Clayton W. (Janet) Libengood of Penn Run and Ernest L. (Mary) Libengood of Blairsville; a daughter, Marla L. (Monte) McMasters of Indiana; eight grandchildren, Jeff, Bill, Angel, Ernie and Matthew Libengood, Jason and Brian Foehrenbach and Amy Fisher; 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Lila Peterson of Holiday Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Esther J. (Marsh) Libengood in 2012, three brothers, Jay, John and Raymond and a sister, Alverta Hoffman.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Brown officiating.
Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
Military services will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
