Our beloved mother Margaret Jean Gunter, 90, of Payson, Utah, passed away on July 23, 2018. Margaret was born on August 15, 1927 in Blairsville, PA to James Reed and Lora Margaret Cunningham Clark. She married William Raymond Gunter on April 7, 1955 in Etna, PA. She graduated from Shaler High School in Glenshaw, PA in 1945.
She worked several jobs throughout her young adult life including elevator operator in Pittsburgh, PA, and at the JC Penney store in Oil City, PA. She was a senior companion visiting volunteer in Utah County for several years, she was well known and liked by staff.
Peggy enjoyed gathering and organizing extensive family history and genealogy, knitting, and practice on the piano to play for church callings. She served in Primary and Relief Society positions providing music and other functions, temple service for her ancestors and in church callings, as well as other church callings serving youth and other members.
Peggy is survived by her children; Patricia Ellen Karamasines, of Blanding, UT, Paul Raymond Gunter II, of Payson, UT, Frank William Gunter, of Payson, UT, Lora Elizabeth Reynolds (Dan), of Trafford, PA, and John Frederick Gunter (Shelley), of Sherwood, OR. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Mark Karamasines, brothers Robert Clark and Frank Clark, and sister Patricia Clark.
Peggy will be remembered as a loving caring and compassionate individual who always put the needs of others before her own.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 12 p.m. at the Payson 1st Ward, 225 South 400 East, Payson, Utah. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.
