Jesse E. McGraw, Jr., 71, of Blairsville, PA (Gray Station) went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2018 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA after his courageous 3-year battle with cancer.
The son of Jesse E. McGraw, Sr. and Reafa G. (McClune) McGraw, he was born October 7, 1946 in Johnstown, PA.
Jesse was an active member of Grace Bible Church, Bradenville, where he served as an usher.
He graduated from Derry Area High School, Class of 1965 and from Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell, SD in 1969.
Jesse worked in Mitchell, SD as a police officer and deputy sheriff before moving back to the Derry area. He was a police officer in Derry before becoming the wastewater and sewage operator for the Derry Municipal Authority for 30 years, retiring in 2009. He also had his own business testing packaging plants for over 20 years.
Jesse and Dorrie were married on June 18, 1977 and Jesse passed away on their 41st anniversary.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dolores “ Dorrie” (Ray) McGraw; six children, Scott P. McGraw and wife, Devonna of Tipp City, OH; Kathy Ross and husband, Dwayne of Gray Station; Lisa Cofield and husband, Steve of Farmington, MN; Michael McGraw and wife, Stephanie of Hermitage, TN; Jesse E. McGraw, III and wife, Colleen of Sioux Falls, SD and Wendy Draeger and husband, Dan of Farmington, MN; 18 grandchildren, Cheryal Workman, Michelle McGraw, Olivia McGraw, Bailey McGraw, Savannah Schmidt, Jessica Rogers, Mitchell Ross, Noah Ross, Duncan Custer, Joshua Cofield, Kara Lee, Nate Cofield, Jesse E. McGraw, IV, Collin McGraw, Savannah McGraw; Cassidy Draeger, Alex Draeger and Jackson Draeger; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret McGuire and husband, Pat of Milford, DE and Virginia Libengood and husband, Ed of West Palm Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Lila Jean Ray and an infant brother, John.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Losier officiating.
Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
