John Dale Sheffler

John Dale Sheffler, 86, of Blairsville, PA (Derry Twp.) passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 in Greensburg Care Center, Greensburg, PA.

The son of Theodore H. and Gladys R. (Miller) Sheffler, he was born September 29, 1931 in New Alexandria, PA.

Mr. Sheffler was a member of the Independent Traditional Holiness Church, Indiana.

He worked for Dietrich Industries for 38 years, retiring in 1995.

He enjoyed helping at the Saltsburg Senior Center and loved hunting, fishing and planting his garden.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mildred R. (Mardis) Sheffler whom he married March 29, 1958; son, John Daniel Sheffler (Kathie) of Derry; two daughters, Linda J. Benedusi (Brett) of Blairsville and Brenda L. McGill (Rev. William) of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Jason C. Miller, Jennifer D. Sheffler, Levi D. Sheffler, Justin A. Buchinsky and Samantha J. Buchinsky; three great grandchildren and two sisters, Lillian J. Smith of Clarksburg and Mary Jo Barnhart of Blairsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Reed in 1995; son-in-law, Charles I. Miller and grandson, Victor “Boo” Buchinsky.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Williamson officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
