June E. Schmidt

June Eileen (Dixon) Schmidt, 90, of Franklin, PA, formerly of Latrobe, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at The Caring Place, Franklin, PA.

The daughter of Charles and Hazel (Jones) Dixon, she was born May 14, 1927 in Blairsville, PA.

Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church where she served as a treasurer and was a Sunday school teacher for 30 years.

She helped to raise her four nieces, enjoyed being with her family, playing cards, gardening, and arts and crafts.

Surviving are a son, Charles E. Schmidt (Mary Anne) of Brecksville, Ohio; a daughter, Wendy L. Thomas (Mark) of Oil City and a granddaughter, Sarah Anne Schmidt of Washington, DC.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward V. Schmidt in 1985; a brother, Charles Dixon and two sisters, Margaret Kuhn and Clara Hughes.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Hughes officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
