Grace M. Garris

Grace Marie (Crook) Garris, 45, of Derry, PA passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of Dayton C. and Mary L. (Klingensmith) Crook, she was born October 5, 1972 in Indiana, PA.

Grace attended Christ Temple Ministries, Brenizer, PA.

She graduated from United High School, Class of 1991 and had worked as a cook for Latrobe-Derry Head Start for 15 years.

Her family was the center of her life and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a caring person and was always helping others.

Surviving are her husband of 22 years, Mark A. Garris whom she married September 23, 1995; five children, Alexis N. Garris, Tyler J. Garris, Dakotah A. Garris, Zackarie M. Garris and Chase J. Garris, all of Derry; her parents, Dayton and Mary Crook of Cherry Tree; four brothers, Robert S. Crook of Indiana; Edward C. Crook of Clymer; James M. Crook (Benita) of Bradenville and David P. Crook of Homer City; three sisters, Kathryn L. Crook of Cherry Tree; Nancy J. Crook of Cherry Tree and Linda S. Lee (Justen) of Homer City; maternal step-grandmother, Marjorie Hoover of Indiana; mother-in-law, Pamela Platt of Latrobe and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter and Thelma Crook; maternal grandparents, Smith and Daisy Klingensmith and maternal step-grandfather, Edward Hoover.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Raymond McIntire officiating.

Interment will be in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe, PA.
