Lyle Aldon Barnhart, 94, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his home.
The son of Harry P. and Mildred (Redding) Barnhart, he was born September 6, 1923 in Livermore, PA.
Mr. Barnhart was a member of Crossroads Community Church, Blairsville.
He worked as a truck driver, loved farming and taking care of the animals.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ellen G. (Lewis) Barnhart, whom he married March 8, 1957; four daughters, Bonni L. Coleman (Delbert) of Clarksburg; Lisa A. Lydick (Douglas) of Blairsville; Linda M. Edwards (Isaac) of Orlando, FL and Glenda D. Hancock (Terry) of Blairsville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Watson, Jason Weaver, Jeremy Hancock, Lyle Hancock, Brian Palmer and Dakota Hostallero; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Glenn Barnhart (companion, Edith) of Belle Vernon; two sisters, Evelyn Miller (Bud) of Latrobe and Ruth Trimble (companion, Bill Petro) of Blairsville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Raymond “Pete”, Harry, Edward, Dale, Paul and George Barnhart and two sisters, Marie Strong and Gladys Miller.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Rusty McClurg officiating.
Interment will be in Livermore Cemetery, Derry Twp., PA.
