James A. Neal

James Arthur Neal, 73, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana, PA.

The son Leslie C. Neal, Sr. and Ruth A. (Pease) Neal, he was born April 25, 1944 in Blairsville, PA.

Jim graduated from Blairsville High School in 1962 and was a veteran of US Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War.

He had worked for Blairsville National Bank as a loan officer, A&P, FMC Blairsville and Homer City State Bank. He worked for Blairsville Wilbert Vault Company as a sales representative for 25 years, retiring in 2009.

Jim was a member of Blairsville United Presbyterian Church, where he was a ruling elder, deacon, sang in the choir for 25 years, active with the food bank and served on various committees. He was a member of the Blairsville Community Band and Indiana County YMCA where he played pickleball. He was an avid bowler and tennis player.

He was active in whatever his sons were involved and his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Linda K. (Brown) Neal whom he married October 5, 1968; three sons, Eric J. (Jodi) Neal of Indiana; Mark A. (Angie) Neal of Princeton, WV and Michael A. (Nicole) Neal of Indiana; five grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Paige, Zachary and Reid; a brother, Leslie C. (Jan) Neal, Jr. of Castro Valley, CA and a sister, Marilyn Neal of Lucernemines and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.

Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.

Military service will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
