Frank B. Staats, Iii

Frank Boone Staats, III, 70, of Blairsville, PA went home to be with his Lord surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at his home.

The son of Frank Boone Staats, Jr. and Margaret Frances (Barrowman) Staats, he was born August 16, 1946 in Newport News, Virginia.

Frank was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Indiana, PA.

He had worked for Helen Mining Company as a mechanic and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

He loved attending athletic events for his children and grandchildren, camping at Scotty Land, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are four children, Greg P. (Kim) Staats of Blairsville; Jim T. (Kristin) Staats of Clarksburg; Hope A. (Dave) Grant of Blairsville and Ryan F. (Jillian) Staats of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Carson, Colby, Kerigan, Alyssa, Austin, Braden and Emilee; three great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Staats of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 44 years, Carole L. (Duke) Staats on July 17, 2017 and a sister, Barbara F. Krishnan.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Scot Pifer officiating.

Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
