Carole L. Staats

Carole Louise (Duke) Staats, 74, of Blairsville, PA went home to be with her Lord surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 17, 2017 at her home.

The daughter of Joseph Ernest Duke and Ethel (Erb) Duke Bost, she was born October 28, 1942 in Tunnelton, PA.

Carole was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Indiana, PA.

She had worked for the Department of Welfare, Indiana Co., before being the caregiver for her husband, Frank, for the last 17 years.

She enjoyed going to horse shows, loved spending time with her family and attending athletic events for her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Frank Boone Staats, III, whom she married April 14, 1973; four children, son, Greg P. (Kim) Staats of Blairsville; son, Jim T. (Kristin) Staats of Clarksburg; daughter, Hope A. (Dave) Grant of Blairsville and son, Ryan F. (Jillian) Staats of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Carson, Colby, Kerigan, Alyssa, Austin, Braden and Emilee; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Ann (Rick) Drawl of State College and Joan (Steve) Stano of Saltsburg and a brother, Ernest (Peggy) Duke of Greensburg and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, George W. Bost, Sr. and a sister, Janet Reid.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Scot Pifer officiating.

Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
