Joann Jennie (Tedeschi) Moreno, 94, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at St. Mary Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Lansdale, PA. where she had resided for the past two years.
The daughter of Egildo and Albina (Gabelli) Tedeschi, she was born November 20, 1922 in Heshbon, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Albert Joseph Moreno in 2006; infant brother; sisters, Anna Fernandez, Gemma Tedeschi, Elena Strini, and Inez Sontag.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Angello (Richard) of Ottsville, PA and Nancy Moreno of Lansdale, PA; grandchildren, Jon Albert Angello (Jennifer) of Sellersville, PA, and Michael Richard Angello (Kristin) of Pompey, NY; four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia, Luca, and Domenic. Also surviving are two brothers, Alfred Tedeschi of Black Lick, PA and James Tedeschi of Wickliffe, OH; two sisters, Hazel Evanick (Steve) of Blairsville PA and Rose Caruso of Homer City, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young woman, Jennie lived in New York, and worked as a nanny on Long Island. When the war broke out, she moved back home to Black Lick, PA and worked in factories in Latrobe and Derry, supporting the war effort by making copper bullets, and assembling hand grenades. Jennie was an avid cook, and a collector of recipe books. Always willing to add a new dash to an old recipe, or spend all day preparing one of her family’s favorites. No one ever left her table disappointed! Cupcakes were her favorite way of saying, “Thank you.”
A viewing will be held a St John the Baptist Church, 4050 Durham Rd, Ottsville, PA at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 16th, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. A ceremony at the interment site will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 20th. Interment will be at SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
