Velma "Ruth" Stipcak

Velma Ruth “Orr” Stipcak, 85, of Palmertown, PA passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center in Indiana, PA.

The daughter of George and Helen (Kinter) Orr, she was born June 28, 1931 in Home, PA.

Ruth was known for her love of baking, especially cookies for holidays and family celebrations. She made the best potato salad and apple pie. Arnold Palmer Iced Tea has nothing on Grandma Ruth’s Iced Tea. She also enjoyed solving word searches, putting puzzles together, and loved gardening.

Ruth and Mike enjoyed spending their weekends at classic car shows, ethnic festivals, and local youth sporting events. A 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration with family and friends was held this past July

Surviving are her husband of over 60 years, Michael Stipcak of Palmertown; four sons, Lenny and Teri (Peco) Stipcak of Port St. Lucie, FL; granddaughter Kandice, great granddaughter Hailey; Richard and Rita (Grassoni) Stipcak of Josephine, PA; grandchildren Tyler, Victoria, and Rychele; Kenny and Leslie (Sulkosky) Stipcak of Mt. Airy, MD; grandchildren Alyssa, K.C., and Emily; Roger and Sondra (Bender) Stipcak of Muncy, PA; grandchildren Justin and Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earl Orr; grandsons, Eric, Ryan, and Bryan Stipcak.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Blessing Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Stephen R. Bugay as celebrant.

Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
