Jon J. Hummel, Sr.

Jon Jacob Hummel, Sr., 68 of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.

The son of Jacob S. and Ruth T. (Hoyman) Hummel, he was born January 20, 1949 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Jon was a US Army veteran having served two tours in Vietnam and worked 36 years at Specialty Bar Products, Blairsville, retiring in 2009.

He was an avid Steelers and NASCAR fan.

Surviving are his wife of almost 48 years, Karen E. (Lively) Hummel whom he married April 12, 1969; a son, Ryan S. Hummel of Blairsville; four grandchildren; seven brothers, Donald J. Hummel of Huntsville, AL; Scott P. Hummel of Pittsburgh; Bryan S. Hummel of Somerset; Jody A. Hummel (Donna) of Coraopolis; Loren M. Hummel of Greensburg; Shawn D. Hummel (Kerri) of Greensburg and Mark C. Hummel (De) of Somerset; six sisters, Betsy E. Caton (Roger) of Berlin; Karen E. Schrock (Don) of Meyersdale; Brenda J. Hummel of Somerset; Rise’ L. Weaver (Robert) of Meyersdale; Tracy A. Hummel of Pittsburgh and Shannon K. Hummel   (Julie) of Mt. Pleasant and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jon J. Hummel, Jr.; and four brothers, Ronald, Terence, Edward and Eugene.

As per Jon’s wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service.
