Chester D. Jones

Chester Daniel Jones, 94, of Josephine, PA passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at his home.

The son of James M. and Nora E. (Williams) Jones, he was born August 25, 1922 in Burrell Twp., PA.

Mr. Jones was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Indiana, PA.

He loved his church, serving in the Lord and working in the outdoors.

He was a US Army veteran of World War II and worked at Latrobe Steel, Latrobe, PA.

Surviving are his wife, Treasia E. (Robinson) Jones; two sons, Russell C. Jones (Ruth Ann) of Blairsville and Philip W. Jones (Kiwako) of Blairsville; two daughters, Jean I. Olechoveski (Joseph) of Josephine and Esther F. Yankuskie (Joseph) of Graceton; two stepsons, Jeff Smith of Homer City and Tom Smith (Nicole) of Delmont; two stepdaughters, Tammy Smith of Homer City and Terri Miles of Homer City; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Homer W. Jones of Warren, OH and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Irene Estella (Wert) Jones on November 27, 2001; a daughter, Doris E. Jones; seven brothers, Paul, Joseph, Earl, Carl, Clinton, Wendell and David Jones; seven sisters, Edna Stemmerich, Mildred Risinger, Anna Marie Keister, Ruth Jones, Gladys Jones, Laura Mae Yarnell and Carrie F. Watson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Joe Smith and Rev. Ben Blowers co-officiating.

Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.

Military services will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
