Mary I. Funk

Mary Irene Funk, 43, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

The daughter of Dennis W. Funk and Marilyn K. (Cochran) Funk Bruner, she was born July 27, 1973 in Indiana, PA.

Mary graduated from Homer Center High School in 1991 and worked as a caregiver for All Abilities.

She attended Bethel Presbyterian Church, Center Twp., PA.

She enjoyed being with family and friends and enjoyed having people visit her. She also loved to cook.

Surviving are her daughter, Makayla L. Funk of Blairsville; her mother, Marilyn K. Bruner (Tom) of Blairsville; father, Dennis W. Funk (Deborah) of New Derry; two sisters, Donna J. Schroth (David) of Blairsville and their children, Matt, Tim and Beth Schroth and Amy Dominick (Bob) of Hillside and their children, Chelsea, Emily and Danielle Dominick and an exchange student sister, Katja Roeder of Windhagen, Germany.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Paul and Mary Cochran; paternal grandparents, George and Irene C. Muka and a special friend, Tyron G. Howard in 2014.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1470 Bethel Church Road, Center Twp., PA with Pastor Terry Semsick officiating.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Center Twp., PA.
