Martha J. Molnar

Martha Jane Molnar, 80, of Monroeville, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, PA.

The daughter of Joseph P. Molnar, Sr. and Mary (Sperling) Molnar, she was born May 28, 1936 in Blairsville, PA.

Martha was of the catholic faith.

She graduated from Blairsville High School in 1954 and from Indiana University of PA in 1958 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. She also received her masters in counseling and masters in school psychology from IUP. She worked 35 years at Gateway High School, as a guidance counselor, before her retirement.

Martha designed crossword puzzles, loved to read, enjoyed golfing and traveling and was very close to her nieces and nephews.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Claire Molnar of Blairsville; three nephews, Ab Dettorre (Lujean) of Blairsville; Greg Molnar (Margie) of Edinboro and Dr. Michael Dettorre (Jeannie) of Hummelstown; two nieces, Susan Frycklund (David) of Indiana and Theresa Molnar of Egan, Minnesota and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joseph P. Molnar, Jr. and a sister, Elinor Dettorre.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A blessing service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Stephen R. Bugay officiating.

Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
