Florence A. Clawson

Florence A. (Rhea) Clawson, 87, of Blairsville, PA (Derry Twp.) passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.

The daughter of Laurence McFarland Rhea and Almeda Katherine (Lindsay) Rhea, she was born December 2, 1928 in Derry Twp., PA.

Mrs. Clawson lived all of her life in the Blairsville area.

She graduated from Elders Ridge High School in 1945, was a homemaker and had worked at Federal Laboratories, Tunnelton, as a machine operator.

She loved her cats, liked all birds, especially hummingbirds.

Surviving is her daughter, Cathy Clawson, at home, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter B. “Shorty” Clawson on July 21, 1996; three sisters, Pauline M. Sarver, Vera B. Kelly and Mary Crowe and four brothers, Dudley C. Rhea, Henry E. Rhea, Sr., Frank R. Rhea and Laurence Rhea.

A special thank you to the ICU nurses, Michele and Kathy for their loving care.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Rhea Summit officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
