Theodore J. "Ted" Pynos

Theodore John “Ted” Pynos, 80, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his home in the company of his family.

The son of Theodore F. and Anna (Goodman) Pynos, he was born August 17, 1935 in Latrobe, PA.

He graduated from Derry Township High School in 1955 and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Ted worked 39 years at Latrobe Steel as a pressman, retiring in 1998. An involved member of the United Steelworkers of America, he was elected and served as president of USWA Local #1537 for two consecutive terms and was a member of the 1537 Retiree Club.

He and his wife were also proprietors of TJ’s Bar and Restaurant and TJ’s Blairhouse, both in Blairsville.

Ted was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville.

He always looked forward to meeting friends at Gino’s on the second Tuesday of each month and belonged to several social clubs, including the White House, Greek and Slovak Clubs.

After retirement from Latrobe Steel, Ted drove for Smith Bus Company.

He is remembered as being strong, generous, kind, thoughtful, funny, caring and helpful. He loved the music of the 50’s and the company of his friends and family. He could not have been more proud of his children and family. Ted always said that his wife, children and grandchildren were his biggest accomplishments in life.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia (Peduzzi) Pynos whom he married July 2, 1960; three sons and a daughter, Theodore J. “T.J.” Pynos (Mitzi) of Cranberry Twp.; Paige R. Pynos of Camp Hill; Rex J. Pynos (Robin) of Greensburg and Bernard J. Pynos (Anne) of Blairsville; 10 grandchildren, Teddy, Aaron, Mason, Anne, Allison, Alexa, Isabel, Abigail, Jacob and Ashley and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dolores Russo and a brother, Donald T. Pynos.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, where a Wake service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Monday. Prayers of Transfer will be said in the funeral home at 9:15 AM Tuesday followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Stephen R. Bugay as celebrant.

Interment will be in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe, PA.

Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
