Edward Morris Hankinson, 72, of Saltsburg, PA (Conemaugh Twp.) passed away on, Monday, May 30, 2016 at his home.
The son of Walter J. and Margaret L. (Lawson) Hankinson, he was born March 3, 1944 in Ebensburg, PA.
Ed graduated from Blairsville High School in 1962 and was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, he worked from Helen Mining Company.
He was active in the Saltsburg United Methodist Church, volunteered for the Saltsburg Food Bank, was a member of the UMWA Local #1619, Tide Sportsmen’s Club and Williamson Lodge #431 F&AM, Saltsburg, and was a past master of Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville.
Surviving are his wife, Gay T. (Astolos) McCutcheon Hankinson; a daughter, Brenda Lee Clark (Brad) of Plainview, TX; a sister, Mary Ellen Densmore of Bath; two stepsons, Gene McCutcheon of Los Angeles, CA and James McCutcheon (Cheryl) of Greensburg; a stepdaughter, Patricia Prenni (Lew) of Saltsburg; four step- grandchildren, Colten McCutcheon, Madison Prenni, Emma Prenni and Bella Prenni and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Barney.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Beth Meier and Rev. Brady Hogue co-officiating.
Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.

Masonic services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 P.M.
Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
