Harold G. Dunmire, Sr.

Harold George “Nutsy” Dunmire, Sr., 76, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

The son of Thomas E. and Erma E. (Lawson) Dunmire, he was born September 24, 1939 in Indiana, PA.

Nutsy worked as a mechanic for Ray Bowser Auto, Blairsville, before his retirement.

He loved spending time with his family and cooking for his family and friends. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed hunting, picking mushrooms and blackberries and doing things for anyone in need.

Surviving are five children, four sons, H. George Dunmire, Jr. (Lisa) of Blairsville; Ed Dunmire (Carrie) of New Florence; Dave Dunmire (Alissa) of New Alexandria and Dwayne Dunmire (friend, Alexandra) of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Tammy Bernardy (Mark) of Johnstown; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five brothers, Glenn Dunmire of Blairsville; Dwight Dunmire of Homer City; Floyd Dunmire (Donna) of Rochester Mills; Leonard Dunmire (Twila) of Blairsville and Marlin Dunmire (Connie) of Rochester Mills; five sisters, Mary Ellen Fisher of Black Lick; Helen Conrad of Blairsville; Alice Conrad of Blairsville; Shirley Stiffler of Kennewick, Washington and Carol Olechoveski of Jamestown, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia (McAdams) Dunmire on March 17, 2014; six brothers, Thomas, Blair, Ralph, Kenneth, Barney and an infant brother and a sister, Betty Berkstrusser.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Cory A. Braatz officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
