Jimmy R. Prince

J immy R. Prince, 78, of Blairsville, PA (Burrell Twp.) passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Country Living Personal Care Home, Blairsville, PA.

The son of Donathan S. and Bessie L. (Newton) Prince, he was born March 17, 1938 in Rogersville, AL.

Jimmy was a 27-year veteran of the US Navy having served during the Vietnam War and worked as a groundskeeper for Chestnut Ridge Golf Course, retiring in 2005.

He was a member of the Blairsville American Legion Post #0407, Blairsville Military Service Group and Chestnut Hills Social Center.

He enjoyed golfing, the New England Patriots, NASCAR and Dale Earnhart, Jr.

Surviving are his wife of almost 30 years, Betty Jane (Shirley) Prince whom he married June 28, 1986; two daughters, Amy Haven (Bill) of Groton, CT and Shelly Prince of CT; three stepsons, Robert Peterson, Jr. (Cindy) of Chesapeake, VA; Kenneth Peterson (Nancy) of North Carolina and Jimmy Peterson of Hampton, VA; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren and two sisters, Kathleen Speegle and Christine Prince.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Neil Prince.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Cunkelman and Rev. Thomas Spiker co-officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.

Military services will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407. ?
