Mary J. Mcginity

Mary J. “Jackie” (Strayer) McGinity, 86, of Derry, PA passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe, PA.

The daughter of Torrance D. and Mary A. (Hertz) Strayer, she was born September 8, 1929 in Blairsville, PA.

Jackie graduated from Blairsville High School in 1948 and had worked at Deans Diner, Blairsville, and Shop’n Save, Latrobe.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Stacy Stark, Donald Steeves and Joseph Steeves; several great grandchildren; a brother, Richard D. Strayer (Rose) of Latrobe; a special niece, Cathie Clevenger of Blairsville; several nephews and her beloved cats, Sarge and Pumpkin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Blaine McGinity; a daughter, Shirley Steeves; two brothers, William and Glenn and two sisters, Margaret Wolford and Betty Monty.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating.
