Elaine (Dunmire) Semsick, 82, of Blairsville, PA (Blacklick Twp.) went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.
The daughter of Olen R. and Laura L. (Baun) Dunmire, she was born March 14, 1933 in Juneau, PA.
Mrs. Semsick was a faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, the Mizpah Bible Class, Grannies Sewing Group and the Annie Bell Women’s Circle. She was a ruling elder and deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and a Youth Group Leader.
She was a true homemaker, loving to take care of her family. She was a great seamstress, crafter, weaver and excellent pie baker. Everyone loved her homemade pies.
Mrs. Semsick worked as a cook for the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District, worked in the office at the Indiana County fair and enjoyed working at the Shoemaker Funeral Home.
Surviving are a son, David J. Semsick (Terry) of Blairsville; two daughters, Diane Hanna (Bob) of Blairsville and Joyce E. Davis (Bob) of Blairsville; eight grandchildren, Zachary Semsick (Julia), Joshua Semsick (Gretchen), Laura Hutcheson (Joshua), Matthew Hanna, Rebecca Hanna, Chad Davis (Sandy), Melissa Davis and Mark Davis; six great grandchildren, Tommy, Addie, Molly, Carson, Julie and Forrest; six brothers and sisters, Wilma Cessna of Shelocta, Ted Dunmire (Louise) of Indiana, Harry Dunmire (Esther) of Shelocta, Ruth Brandt of Goshen, IN, Pat Foltz of East Palestine, OH, and Judy Sturdevant (Dennis) of Sheffield; numerous nieces and nephews and her family at Country Living Personal Care Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James R. Semsick on May 6, 1988.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday in the United Presbyterian Fellowship Hall, 137 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
