Zane L. Mccachren

June 28, 2012 — November 29, 2015

Zane Lucas McCachren, of New Florence, PA was an amazing 3 year 5 month old boy who had a heart of gold and was an organ donor.  Everyone who met him was touched by his strength and will to fight.
He was born June 28, 2012 in Indiana, PA, with Trisomy 17, which can be a life limiting illness.  Over the last 3 years and 5 months Zane has spent many months at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where he battled many illnesses. He passed away at home on November 29, 2015 in the arms of his mother and surrounded by his father, brother, sister, many other family members, special friends, and his reliable glow seahorse.
He will be remembered for his amazing generosity, enormous smile and his love of Mickey Mouse.  He is survived by his father and mother, Timothy McCachren and Cassie (Palmer) McCachren; brother, Zachary McCachren and sister, Zoe McCachren; paternal grandparents, Richard and Diana McCachren; paternal great grandparents, Ruth and Mabon Reeger; uncle Richie McCachren, aunt Cindy and uncle Wade Rager; uncle Tom McCachren; cousins, Bethany McCachren, Nathan McCachren, Kimberly McCachren, Abigail Rager, Alexis Rager and Tony Rager; maternal grandma, Sandra Palmer; maternal great grandparents, Ron and Charlotte Davis; uncle Ken Palmer and wife Jen; uncle Harley, aunt Jessica Palmer and cousin, Grant. Also, many other supportive aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
Zane was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Terry Lee “Tink” Palmer and maternal great-great grandmother, Betty Sandolfini.  Zane’s life may have been short, but it was nothing short of amazing. He had an amazing support system of people who were with him and prayed for him daily. He had over 9,000 people who followed his Facebook page, "Our Amazing Zane" and they prayed for him immensely. The hospital staff and nurses at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh who cared so greatly for him.  An amazing organization called “Go Shout Love” who sponsored and fundraised our family in October of 2014 while Zane was hospitalized with a virus that almost took his life. His many friends at First Commonwealth Bank, First Commonwealth Insurance Agency, McDonalds, and VNA of Indiana County who loved and supported us so greatly. And last but definitely, not least, are Zane’s amazing nurses, Kristie Goss, Cory Liermann and Joann Murdick, his clinical manager, Chad Dill, the director of his nursing agency, Kristie Voyda, and all the employees who work for his home nursing agency, Bayada Pediatrics Home Health Care of Blairsville.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 A.M. and from 2 to 4 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Celebration of Zane’s Life will be at 4:00 Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Rick Corbett officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you complete a random act of kindness in memory of Zane. Also, consider making a donation to the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh. The Ronald McDonald House became a second home to the McCachren family during Zane’s many hospital stays. The family would love for Zane to be remembered for his bright spirit. Please consider wearing your favorite color to Zane’s Celebration of Life instead of black.
Following the service, everyone is invited to a lunch at the Black Lick Fire Hall.
