??Edgar Robertson Baker, 94, of Blairsville, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at his home surrounded and comforted by his loving family. The son of Edgar Frank and Margaret C. (Robinson) Baker, he was born July 9, 1921 in Blairsville, PA. Edgar graduated from Blairsville High School in 1939. He worked for the US Postal Service as a postmaster in Blairsville, retiring in 1976 and he and his wife, Helen, owned and operated E & H Ceramics in Blairsville. He was a member of the Blairsville National Guard and served in the Army during WW II as a 1st lieutenant. Edgar was a member of the Black Lick United Methodist Church, Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville, and the Consistory of Pittsburgh. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He and his brother, Dean, were often called upon to play trumpet and clarinet at the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville, and other local events. He was an avid reader. He loved to travel with his wife, Helen, in their motor home and they were both very active square dancers. Surviving are his children, Edgar C. Baker and his wife, Julie, of Blairsville; Samantha Lehr of Hanson, Massachusetts; Laila Davidson and her husband, Ben, of Jeffersonville and Gretchen Carmo and her husband, Gary, of Odenton, Maryland; five grandchildren, Joshua Lehr, Jonathan Lehr, Matthew Davidson and wife, Helen; Jennifer Taylor and husband, James and Steven Carmo and four great grandchildren, Lindsey Davidson, Alexa Davidson, Chase Taylor and Daniel Kotasi-Lehr. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen (Grater) Baker on June 1, 2008 and a brother, Dean William Baker in 2005. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with his pastor, Rev. Brett M. Dinger officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
