Norman F. Walker, 76, of Torrance, PA passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Blairsville, PA. The son of Blaine S. and Louise (Patz) Walker, he was born November 7, 1938 in Bairdstown, PA. Mr. Walker graduated from Blairsville High School in 1958 and played football for the Bobcats. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he worked for Latrobe Steel for 29 years. He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, Promise Keepers, a supply minister at various churches and a former member of the Blairsville Volunteer Fire Dept. He loved going to the Mahaffey Camp and Conference Center, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following his children and grandchildren with their sports activities. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Janet M. (McKee) Walker whom he married on August 8, 1958; two sons, Gregory S. Walker (Carlita) of Navarre, FL and David R. Walker (Jennifer) of Blairsville; four daughters, Dawn R. Yurky (Ralph) of Homer City; Jill R. Wolford (Terry) of Torrance; Colleen L. Jobe (Lance) of Greensburg and Erin K. Ewing (Eric) of Greensburg; 17 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Karl Eugene Walker (Barb) of Blairsville; a sister, Betty L. Bernazolli (Lino) of Latrobe and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Blaine Scott "Bud" Walker. As per the wishes of Mr. Walker, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe and Rev. Herb Phar co-officiating. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
