Rosie Louella Gibson, 81, of Upper Marlboro, MD passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 in Med Star Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. The daughter of Giant and Donnie Lee (Haygood) Gibson, she was born November 16, 1933 in Blairsville, PA. Rosie was a former member of the Second Baptist Church, Blairsville, and was a graduate of Blairsville High School in 1951. She lived the last 50 years in Landover, MD where she worked as a registered nurse. After the death of her mother, her father married the late Willie Etta Teters who loving raised his children as her own. Surviving are two nieces, Sabrina Gibson of Detroit, MI and Odette Boone of Cleveland, OH; a nephew, Christopher Gibson of Detroit, MI and a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Isadore and Giantman Gibson and a sister, Riva Lee Vaughn. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2015, the time of the funeral service in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
