Dale Calvin McConnell, 61, of Blairsville, PA (Black Lick Twp.) passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at his home. The son of James P. and Esther J. (Horner) McConnell, he was born March 5, 1954 in Latrobe, PA. Dale graduated from Blairsville High School in 1973. He worked for R & P Coal Company for 25 years, retiring in 1996, and worked the last 10 years as a security guard at the Homer City Power Plant. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Rocky Mountain Foundation, Fur Traders Association, PA Trappers Association, Sinnamahoning Sportsmen's Club and the United Mine Workers of America. Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Frances L. (Coy) McConnell whom he married May 17, 1975; mother, Esther J. (Horner) McConnell of Blairsville; two children, Mark A. McConnell (Nikol) of Plum and Michelle L. Stewart (Brandon) of Hopewell; a grandson, Caleb James Stewart; two brothers, Paul A. McConnell (Susan) of Blairsville and Dennis P. McConnell (Bonnie) of Blairsville; two sisters, Sue Brooks (James) of Homer City and Mary L. Thompson (Jeff) of Blairsville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 2014. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA.
