William Joseph Farabaugh, 78, of Derry, PA passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Mountainview Specialty Care Center, Greensburg, PA. The son of Francis J. and Mary E. (Ray) Farabaugh, he was born March 17, 1937 in Latrobe, PA. Mr. Farabaugh was a member of the Black Lick United Methodist Church, VFW Post #444 and the American Legion Post #324, both of Derry, BPOE #406, Blairsville, and the Derry Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Stella, after his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and worked at Latrobe Steel for 31 years, retiring in 1992. Surviving are a son, Tom Farabaugh of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Deborah Farabaugh of Minneapolis, MN; five stepchildren, Stan "Rocky" Harper (Laura) of Blairsville; Brett Harper (Chrissy) of New Alexandria; Rick Harper (Cherie) of Blairsville; Sharon Noga of Coral and Candy Ross (David) of Blairsville; 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Strittmater of Ashville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stella L. (Loring) Harper Farabaugh on July 26, 2014; a stepbrother, Paul Farabaugh and a stepsister, Anna Marie Karlhiem. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home with Rev. Brett M. Dinger officiating. BPOE #406, Blairsville, will have services in the funeral home on Saturday at 7:00 P.M.
