Melvyn Dean White, 77, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at his home. The son of Everett and Gladys C. (Overly) White, he was born August 13, 1937 in Latrobe, PA. Melvyn attended Derry Area High School and was a veteran of the Air Force. He retired in 1985 from Helen Mining Company and worked for Solidur Plastics Co., retiring in 2000. Melvyn is survived by his daughter, Michelle Dunn (Rodney) of Calypso, NC; a granddaughter Kayla Gehron (Colby); three step-grandchildren, Brittany Baker (Tim), Gina Dunn and Megan Dunn; a sister, Diane McCormick (James) of St. Peter, MN and a brother, Everett White (Germaine) of Irving, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene (Decker) White in 2004 and a brother, Marshall White. As per Melvyn's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
