Charles Edward Lawson, 88, Indiana, PA formerly of Blairsville, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in the Communities at Indian Haven, Indiana, PA. The son of Robert and Elizabeth (Croyle) Lawson, he was born May 16, 1926 in Seward, PA. Chuck drove cement truck for many years and also worked for R & P Mining Company, Indiana, retiring in 1988 He was a veteran of the Army and Navy. While in the Navy he was stationed on the ship USS Cadmus and USS Matta Beselt. He was a member of VFW Post #5821, Blairsville, United Mine Workers of America and a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old western movies, the history channel and going to air shows. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Surviving are six children, Linda Ray of Josephine; Tammy Gromley (Mark) of Blairsville; Sandra Rhea (Dennis) of Blairsville; Carl Lawson of Saltsburg; Dwain Lawson of Pittsburgh and Connie McIntire of Blairsville; five grandchildren, Eric Jones, Malinda Siegler, Tonya Murphy, Samuel Losier and Brittany Gromley; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Susan K. (Rose) Lawson on January 2, 2015; a daughter, Sharon E. Losier on September 20, 2011; six brothers, Oscar, Edgar, Lloyd, Elmer, Milford and Paul and two sisters, Erma Dunmire and Margaret "Peg" Murray. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Indian Haven for their care and compassion given to their father, often called "Chuckles", because he made so many people laugh. Also thank you for the support and care given by Horizon Hospice. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Cory A. Braatz officiating. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA Memorial contributions may be made to the Communities at Indian Haven, 1675 Saltsburg Road, Indiana, PA 15701. Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
