Harold Burton Smith, 87 of Clarksburg, PA (Conemaugh Twp.) passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at his home. The son of George and Verna (Steffey) Smith, he was born September 18, 1927 in Livermore, PA (Indiana Co.). Harold was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg, Saltsburg American Legion #57, Blairsville VFW #5821, attended the Saltsburg Senior Center, and was the past Commander of the Blairsville VFW from 1977-1979. Harold also enjoyed going to flea markets and enjoyed antiques. He graduated from Elders Ridge High School in 1945 and worked for Nickles Bakery until he retired in 1985. Surviving are his loving wife, Lillian J. (Sheffler) Smith, whom he married on June 9, 1950; three sons David I. (Sandy) Clarksburg, PA, Richard H. (Anna Marie) Nowrytown, PA, and John T. (Lorraine) Clarksburg, PA; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; and one brother Rev. John Cyrus Smith of Grand Junction, CO. He was preceeded in death by his parents; one son Thomas E. Smith in 1955, two brothers Robert G. Smith and J. Walter Smith; and four sisters M. Isabelle Lucas, M. Annabelle Smith, Helena Smith, and Edith Elwell. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Brett Hoover officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church. Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
