W. Blanche (Lichtenfels) Cochran, 88, of Shelocta, PA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 22, 2014 at her home. The daughter of Paul S. and Lillian (Murphy) Lichtenfels, she was born May 18, 1926 in West Wheatfield Twp., Indiana Co., PA. Blanche was a member of the Shelocta Community United Presbyterian Church. She had worked at Blairsville High School as a cook in the 1960's and for Torrance State Hospital. She also worked as an Avon representative for many years. Blanche loved cooking and baking cookies, especially for her children and grandchildren, and spending time with them. Surviving are her loving children, William E. Cochran (Miriam) of Penn Run; Gary R. Cochran (Linda) of Johnstown and Doris M. Cochran who resided with her mother in Shelocta; stepdaughter, Beverly Akins (Ted) of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Angela Cochran, Scott E. Cochran, Vicki L. Ammer (Jay) and Jeff Cochran; two step-grandchildren, Lindsey Dubose (Willie) and Steve Akins; 10 great grandchildren, Shane and Craig Bissonette, Desiree, Devin and Aleena Brown; Dylan and Logan Cochran and Emily, Karie and Kylie Ammer; a brother, Thomas Lichtenfels (Pat) of Norman, OK and a sister, Sara Shirley of Indiana and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl C. Cochran on June 13, 1975; a brother, Ralph Lichtenfels and a sister, Susan Sullinger. The family would love to send a special "Thank You" to the Senior Care, neighbors, friends, family and church friends for their help during our difficult time. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Joseph Tagliaferre of the Shelocta Community United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
