Margaret Ellen Quick, 92, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA. The daughter of George and Clara Elsie (Peace) Quick, she was born December 12, 1921 in Tunnelton, PA. Margaret attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, and worked as a cook at Torrance State Hospital, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed going to casinos and spending time with her family. Surviving are two sons, George Murphy (Jean) of Erwin, TN and Robert Murphy (Jan) of Homer City; six daughters, Nancy Smith of Indiana; Marie Cochran of St. Petersburg, FL; Linda Sleasman of Stahlstown; Kathy Crawford (Dave) of Chambersville; Betty Murphy of Derry and Roberta Ross (Duane) of Blairsville; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Rose Teeter (Marlin) of New Florence and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas Murphy; a daughter, Darlene Scott; an infant daughter, Doris Murphy; two brothers, Clair and James Quick; six sisters, Alice Clawson, Wilma Murphy, Mabel Teffek, Jane Murphy, Laura Gordon and Maude Merichko. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. John McMannus and Rev. Joseph Luzier co-officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
