Velma Ethel (Duncan) Deemer, 87, of Hillsdale, PA passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Hillsdale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Hillsdale, PA. The daughter of Leroy C. and Vernie I. (Howard) Duncan, she was born September 3, 1927 in Black Lick, PA. Velma was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Surviving are her daughter, Manilla "Penny" Shirley (James) of Black Lick; five grandchildren, Sean Rugh, Phillip Rugh, Ryan Deemer, Amber Shirley and Kira Shirley; four great grandchildren; four sisters, Ethel Bailey of New Florence, Sally Buzzinotti of Black Lick, Mary Ellen Miller of Black Lick and Nora Jean Krouse of Clymer; special nieces, Velma Ethel Griffith of Clymer, Tina Jodon of Dixonville and Vernie Myers of Commodore and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles R. Deemer; two sisters, Lillian Duncan and Pearl Stitt; three brothers, Clarence Duncan, Leroy Duncan and Arthur Duncan; two infant siblings and an infant granddaughter. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
