Larry Eugene Palmer, 57, of Derry, PA passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA. The son of David E. Clawson and Betty L. (Palmer) Laney, he was born August 27, 1957 in Blairsville, PA. Larry was a veteran of the Army and had worked as a painter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are a son, Shane T. Palmer of Derry; a daughter, Ashley E. Palmer of Raeford, NC; five grandchildren; mother, Betty L. Laney of Derry; six brothers, Peter Pavlik and Roger Pavlik both of Blairsville; Raymond Laney (Adriane) of New Derry; David Clawson, John Clawson and Bill Clawson all of Clarksburg; seven sisters, Brenda Butler of Derry; Evelyn Libengood and Linda Clawson both of Clarksburg; Judy Clawson of Avonmore; Patricia Walker of Turtle Creek; Janet McDivitt of Slickville and Faye Beere of Shelocta and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to Aunt Jeanie for taking care of him. His father, David Clawson, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Jason Losier officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville. Members of Derry Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept., Bradenville, will have a service at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military services will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
