Samuel Salvador Nease, 99, of Loyalhanna, PA formerly of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 at his home. The son of James and Angela R. (Poto) Nease, he was born July 5, 1915 in Bairdstown, PA. Mr. Nease was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarksburg, and the Greensburg Musical Society. Prior to his retirement in 1977, he was employed by Torrance State Hospital for 30 years. Music was his life. He played many instruments and played in several bands, including the Phil Murik Band and the Happy Loughner Band. He also played for several years at the Blairsville Elks on Fridays. Surviving are his daughter, Elaine Erb of Slickville; two grandchildren, David Garland (Lisa) of Martinez, GA and Crissy Erb of Slickville; two great-granddaughters; his caregivers, Robert and Cynthia Latimer of Loyalhanna, whom he lived with for eight years and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anabele (Curtis) Nease on March 11, 2006; one brother, John Nease and two sisters, Mary DiRinaldo and Christina Nease. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Brett D. Hoover officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
