James Paul "Red" McConnell, 86, of Blairsville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA. The son of William D. and Della C. (McFeter) McConnell, he was born June 11, 1928 in Black Lick Twp., PA. Mr. McConnell was born and raised on the farm in Black Lick Twp. where worked his entire life as a farmer. He enjoyed feeding his pet fish at the farm, hunting with his sons and gardening with his wife, Esther. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Esther J. (Horner) McConnell whom he married October 11, 1951: three sons, Dale C. McConnell (Frances L.) of Blairsville, Paul A. McConnell (Susan) of Blairsville and Dennis P. McConnell (Bonnie) of Blairsville; two daughters, Susan K. Brooks (James) of Homer City and Mary L. Thompson (Jeff) of Blairsville; 10 grandchildren, Mark McConnell, Michelle Stewart, William McConnell, Alexis McConnell, Patrick McConnell, Sarah McConnell, Brenda Dicicco, Brad Brooks, John Thompson and Joe Thompson; two great grandchildren, Avery and Taylor and a sister, Helen Saunders of Blairsville. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and William. As per Mr. McConnell's wishes, there will be no visitation or Memorial Service.
