Harry J. "Jim" Beckerleg

Harry J. "Jim" Beckerleg, 71, of Derry, PA passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA. The son of Thomas H. and Minnie Mae (Echard) Beckerleg, he was born May 7, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant, PA. Jim was a past Worshipful Master and member of Socastee Lodge #421, Socastee, SC and a member of the Scottish and York Rites. He worked at Elliott Company, Jeannette, before moving to Myrtle Beach, SC where he owned the Bahama Motel and International Omelet House from 1977 to 1987. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Beverly J. (Reed) Beckerleg whom he married May 16, 1964; one daughter, Kimberly K. Pawlik (Buck) of Derry and one son, James J. Beckerleg (Sandra) of Sebastian, FL; four grandchildren, Samantha Beckerleg, Nicholas Pawlik, Felicia Pawlik and Tabitha Beckerleg; four brothers, Thomas "Butch" Beckerleg (Sandra) of Conway, SC; Robert Beckerleg (Linda) of Tarrs; Donald Beckerleg (Charlotte) of Mt. Pleasant; Ronald Beckerleg of Mt. Pleasant and one sister, Judy O'Connor (Jim) of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Charlie Brownawell officiating.
