Joseph Clayton, 88, of Blairsville, PA (Brenizer) passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe, PA. The son of Washington and Hattie (Bold) Clayton, he was born August 5, 1925 in Latrobe, PA. Mr. Clayton lived most of his life in Brenizer and was a member of the Congregational Church of God in Trust, Derry. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he worked at Latrobe Forge and Spring. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Surviving are eleven children; Joseph Wesley Clayton (Deb) of Brenizer; Don Juan Clayton (Ruby) of Houston, TX; Randy Clayton (Linda) of Brenizer; Prince Albert Clayton of Torrance; Jeffrey Wendel Clayton (Mary) of Blairsville; Lori K. Jackson (Charles) of Blairsville; Curtis W. Clayton of Brenizer; David Allen Clayton (Tracy) of Bradenville; Richard Clayton (Robin) of Frederick, MD; Lisa Jo Clayton of Frederick, MD and Kenneth Peak of Columbus, OH; 37 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Clayton of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Janie Cohen of Superior and Willa Mae Joseph of Durham, NC and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine E. (Steward) Clayton on May 14, 2006; one son, Ben Clayton; six brothers, Thomas, Samuel, Washington Jr., Prince, Stephen and Daniel and six sisters, Anna, Mary, Martha, Lillian, Hattie and Dorothy. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Christ Temple Ministries, Brenizer, PA. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
