Mary Helen (Balch) Short, 90, of Adena, OH passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the Sienna Point Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Adena, OH. The daughter of Ensign C. and Desirae (Sermant) Balch, she was born May 7, 1924 in Coraopolis, PA. Mrs. Short was of the catholic faith. Surviving are three sons, Christopher Short (Carol) of North New Portland, ME; Lawrence Short (Pamela) of Gray Station; Bruce Short of Jackson, MS and a daughter, Marilyn Short (Massoud Homapoor) of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Alexander Short, Maxwell Short and Zachrey Short; two step-grandsons, Reza and Amir and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald F. Short in 2000 and a sister, Clementine Marshall. A private visitation will be held in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
