Roy Bion Tomb, 66, of Black Lick, PA passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA. The son of Bion Edwin and Jean (Mowery) Tomb, he was born January 24, 1948 in Indiana, PA. Roy graduated from Laura Lamar High School in 1965 and from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 1970. He was a licensed professional engineer in Pennsylvania and working for Force, Inc., Indiana. He also worked for Tomb Trucking for many years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard serving in Company C 28th Signal Battalion, 28th Infantry Division, Latrobe, PA. He was a member of the Black Lick Presbyterian Church where he was a ruling elder and was a 32nd degree member of Coudersport Consistory. He was a member and served as Past Master for two terms of Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville, where he presided over 800 Masonic funeral services. Roy liked following Penn State and Steelers football and was an avid griller and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Brenda L. (Burkey) Tomb whom he married on August 25, 1973; a daughter, Haley L. Lohmann and her husband, Peter of Virginia Beach, VA and a son, Elijah Bion Tomb of Houston, TX; a brother, Larry Tomb and his wife, Lorrie of Hillsdale, IL and a sister, Darlene Weimer and her husband, Wayne of Strongstown. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Angela in 1983. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Blairsville United Presbyterian Church, 137 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA, with Rev Timothy R. Monroe officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA. Masonic services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 P.M. Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
