Harry Ernest Muir, 87, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Beacon Ridge, Indiana, PA. The son of Ellsworth Muir Sr. and Carrie (Dunmire) Muir, he was born October 11, 1926 in Strangford, PA. Harry was a member of the Strangford United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Conrail and he also delivered the Indiana Gazette and the Dispatch for the last 15 years. Surviving are his wife, Thelma W. "Wendy" (Marsh) Muir; four children, Richard W. Muir of Palatka, FL; Sharon Titus of FL; Kevin D. Muir of NJ and Barry E. Muir of Albright, WV; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; five stepchildren, Barbara Wyne of Blairsville; Sally Jo Pearce of Indiana; Beth Ann Hein of Cokeburg; Kimberly Newcomb of Blairsville and Kathy Nixom of Ocoee, FL; a step great-grandson, Isaiah Nelson; two brothers, Wayne E. Muir of New Carlisle, OH and Ralph E. Muir of Blairsville; three sisters, Peggy Brown of Blairsville; Sara Jane Boring of New Florence and Kathy Bowers of Robinson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Audrey E. (Patton) Muir on November 19, 1992; four brothers, Fred, Ellsworth Jr., Robert and James and a sister, Betty (Muir) Perry. As per Harry's wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery. The Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
