James William Pike, Sr., 72, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his home. The son of George W. and Anna M. (Grey) Pike, he was born December 21, 1941 in McClellandtown, PA. Jim was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, and Men's Fellowship and was very active working with the dinners of the church. Member of the Homer City American Legion Post #493, Blairsville Fraternal Order of Eagles #1488, Indiana VFW Post #1989, Blairsville BPOE #406, Black Lick Sportsman's Club and the Blue Knights PA 19 of the American Association of State Troopers He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police with 25 years of service in 1993, was a Navy veteran and also retired from the 171st Maintenance Squadron of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Coraopolis, PA. Surviving are his wife, Carol A. (Marker) Pike whom he married on November 25, 1967; three sons, James W. Pike, Jr. (Michelle) of Gloucester, VA; Jonathan W. Pike (Maryann) of Blairsville and Jeffrey S. Pike (fiancée, Cheyenna Deal) of Norfolk, VA; three grandchildren, Becca Pike, Nathaniel Pike and Timothy James; two brothers, Dennis Pike (Marlene) of McClellandtown and Kevin Pike (Kathy) of McClellandtown and a sister, Kathy King (Tim) of Olmstead Falls, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Gerald Pike. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, PA with Rev. Thomas A. Federline as celebrant. Private internment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp., Washington Co., PA with full military rites.
