Vincent James Sgro, 60, of Blairsville, PA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Philadelphia, PA. The son of George V. and Lillian C. (DeFalco) Sgro, he was born April 5, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA. Vincent was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, New Derry, and was employed by Pool City, Greensburg, for the past 17 years. He was a great sports fan and enjoyed watching his son play hockey. Surviving are his wife, Christina M. (Clevenger) Sgro whom he married on February 1, 1986; two sons, Justin J. Sgro of Philadelphia and Jordan J. Sgro of Blairsville; two daughters, Amanda M. Sgro and Sarah E. Sgro, both of Blairsville and his mother, Lillian C. Sgro of Blairsville. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, George. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Martin Catholic Church, New Derry, PA. Interment will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the education fund for Vincent's children at First Commonwealth Bank, 53 E. Market St., Blairsville, PA 15717.
