Gary Dalton "Gus" "Max" Davis, Sr., 71, of Latrobe, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. The son of James M. and Bertha Z. (Carmichael) Davis, he was born August 30, 1942 in Cokeville, PA. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the Army and worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and liked antique cars and motorcycles. Surviving is his wife, Catherine A. (Fennell) Davis whom he married March 29, 1975; three sons, Gary Davis, Jr. of Louisiana; John Davis (fiancée, Heather) of Tennessee and Ken Davis (Melissa) of Latrobe; three daughters, Shirley Shanigan (Peter) of Alaska; Terry Simms of Latrobe and Sherry Lanning (Tom) of Vandergrift; 25 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ron Davis (Charlotte) of Black Lick and Dana Davis (Tanya) of Waterman and a sister, Sandy Kijowski of Waterman. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Darryl and his mother-in-law, Gladys Fennell. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home with Rev. Cory A. Braatz officiating. Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
