Joseph Stets, Jr., 79, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Beacon Ridge, Indiana, PA. The son of Joseph Stets, Sr. and Pauline (Flinko) Stets, he was born January 30, 1935 in Ernest, PA. Mr. Stets was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Bradenville, Knights of Columbus, BPOE #406, Blairsville, American Greek Society, Westmoreland Democratic Club, Derry Rod & Gun Club, Derry Ukrainian Club, Kingston Vets and a social member of Blairsville VFW Post #5821. He worked as a carpenter for the J.Z. Stets Pallet Co., Indiana, retiring in 2000. Surviving is his loving and devoted wife and caregiver, Janice M. (Zubaty) Stets whom he married August 27, 1966; brother, Robert Stets and his wife, Ellen of Norbeck, MD; sister, Dolores Prenni of Ernest; brother-in-law, Ronald Zubaty and his wife Cindy of Houston and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Audrey Stets. A private visitation and service will be held at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut Street, Blairsville, PA. Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
