Walter D. Bracken, Jr., 60, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. The son of Walter D. Bracken, Sr. and Emma P. (Bako) Bracken, he was born May 24, 1953 in Loraine, OH. Mr. Bracken graduated from Blairsville High School in 1971 and was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Howard Bros., retiring in 2012. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are three children, Chris M. Lee of Lucernemines; Corey J. Bracken of Blairsville and Jason A. Bracken of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Jesse Lee, Ean Lee and Cortney Bracken; a sister, Cathy Thompson (Bill) of Blairsville; two brothers, Duane Bracken (Mary) of Brenizer and Ron Bracken of Blairsville. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc. 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
