James Rutledge "Cribby" Cribbs, 87, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at his home. The son of Wilson H. and Lillian (Walker) Cribbs, he was born September 9, 1926 in Blairsville, PA. Cribby worked at Kennametal, Inc. as a machinist for 49 years, retiring in 1993 and was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Blairsville, Homer City VFW Post #0493 and a life member of Blairsville Volunteer Fire Dept. Cribby enjoyed camping, going to the Cribbs reunion and was always there to help his friends and neighbors with their various projects. He was the last of the Wilson and Lillian Cribbs family. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Katherine A. (Stipcak) Cribbs whom he married on August 24, 1957; a son, James M. Cribbs (Sandra) of Derry; two daughters, Marlene K. Joyce (Dave) of Blairsville and Judith A. Ash (Timothy) of Blairsville; two grandchildren, Alissa McNulty (Doug) and Amanda Cribbs and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Cribbs of Vandergrift and Patricia Cribbs of Blairsville. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William, Paul and Milton Cribbs; two sisters, Doris Stuchell and Jane George and a niece, Karen Melvin. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Cory A. Braatz officiating. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
