Thelma Mary (McConnell) Tarasovich, 86, of Black Lick, PA passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA.A daughter of Roy D. and Vernie (Varner) McConnell, she was born November 27, 1924 in Black Lick, PA.Mrs. Tarasovich was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Black Lick.She loved being with her family and enjoyed the activities of her church, baking, cooking and traveling.Surviving are three children, two sons, John A. Tarasovich, Sr. and his wife, Carol of Blairsville and Robert J. Tarasovich and his wife, Lori of Warrenton, VA and a daughter, Nancy L. Sopinka and her husband, Russell of Longwood, FL; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William McConnell, Sr. and Ralph McConnell.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Parastas service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday. A Burial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Black Lick, PA with Right Rev. Archimandrite Pitirim (Stehncah) officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
